Involved in the launch of the inaugural meeting in 2016, Outshine have worked with the SHD-Asia Pacific Directors consistently delivering a Symposium that shares knowledge in the evolving field of structural heart disease.
The 2024 SHD-AP Symposium was held over three days at Claudelands Event Centre, Hamilton, New Zealand. Faculty sessions ran both concurrently and singularly, with practical pre-conference streams on heart dissection. All sessions were made available on-demand, post event. Six medical device company partners assisted the symposium throughout the scientific programme with speaker and resource support and attended the exhibition in person. There were 100 on-site delegates.
Involved in the launch of the inaugural meeting in 2016, Outshine has worked with the SHD-Asia Pacific Directors delivering a Symposium that shares knowledge in the evolving field of structural heart disease. The Symposium has been held four times over our tenure, in Auckland and Hamilton and has included live case transmissions from operating theatres internationally and locally, patient experience panels and mulitple interactive workshops.
The program is three days, with one plenary session. Invited keynote speakers are invited from Australia, North America, Asia and the Northern Hemisphere, with live streaming of medical procedures from the Asian subcontinent and speakers presenting virtually via Zoom. Social functions include a welcome reception, and a faculty dinner.
The symposium offers a wide range of hands on, interactive workshops including heart dissection under the direction of expert faculty. Industry sponsored sessions feature hi-tech cardiac device demonstration, work station case-based training and lecture based sessions to compliment the scientific program.
The meeting averages 100 in person delegates. Attendees are from New Zealand, Australia and the Asia Pacific region, with faculty from the Northern Hemisphere and North America. Registrants incorporate Cardiac Specialists, Trainees and Nurses, Anaesthetists, Radiologists, Intensivists, Allied Health Surgeons and healthcare industry.
Healthcare industry and pharmaceutical companies attend the Symposium as sponsor and exhibitors. Six-eight companies exhibit each year, with investment levels growing in recent years. Supporting companies are from throughout the Asia–Pacific region.
